The North American Dostoevsky Society invites applications for the Deborah A. Martinsen Conference Travel Award for 2026. Named for Deborah A. Martinsen, a former President of both the International and North American Dostoevsky Societies and preeminent Dostoevsky scholar, the Martinsen Award is a travel bursary to help graduate students or other precariously employed members of the North American Dostoevsky Society to defray costs associated with attending a conference to present their work on Dostoevsky. This cycle will support an award of up to $1000. NADS will reimburse up to this amount in reasonable expenses incurred by the recipient in traveling to and participating in the ASEEES Annual Convention in Chicago in November 2026. Eligible expenses may include conference registration, economy-class airfare or other reasonable transportation to and from the conference site, lodging, and local transportation associated with conference attendance. Reimbursement will be limited to actual eligible expenses incurred by the recipient and supported by receipts or other appropriate documentation. 

The submission deadline is Friday, October 2nd, 2026, and the successful applicant will be notified by Friday, October 9th, 2026. All NADS members who are based in North America and have had a paper accepted for the ASEEES Convention that is significantly or wholly dedicated to Dostoevsky are invited to apply. Please submit your application to this Google form before midnight PST on Friday, October 2nd, 2026.
